This magnificent pen is an example of British craftsmanship at its finest. Made from solid sterling silver and engraved with an intricate hexagonal interlocking panel design on the cap and barrel, the pen has been overlaid with hand-applied vibrant orange and charcoal translucent enamels in the style of Carl Fabergé.
The striking colour combination on cap and barrel appears to ‘ripple’ as you use it, like the skin of the South American big cat, after which it is named.
The Conway Stewart Jaguar in Sterling Silver is the last of a series of sterling silver pens produced by Conway Stewart in the ‘Elegance’ range. Based on the shape of the much-loved Conway Stewart Series 100 model, the Elegance editions were all made from solid sterling silver and richly decorated with art-deco engraved patterns and overlaid with vibrant enamels.
The pens are believed to have been designed by internationally renowned silversmith Robert Glover who also undertook the detailed engraving and enamelling.
Without doubt, this is an exceptional pen. Its perfect balance in the hand, combined with classic design and intricate guilloché engraving and enamelling make it a highly desirable addition to any Conway Stewart lover’s collection.
Only 1 remains from the original limited edition of 100
Originally issued in 2012 in a limited edition of 100, we recently uncovered sufficient parts from the stock of components we acquired from the administrators in 2014 to make up just 5 complete Conway Stewart Jaguar pens. We have sold 4 and now only the final one remains. The original Conway Stewart edition register confirms that the 5 edition numbers (39, 40, 41, 45 and 46) were never allocated to customers – making them something of a rarety for CS collectors.
Provenance and Authenticity
All the components for this pen were acquired by Bespoke British Pens from the Administrators of Conway Stewart Manufacturing Ltd in October 2014 following the closure of the Conway Stewart factory in Plymouth, Devon. As such, you can rely on the provenance and authenticity of these components as genuine Conway Stewart parts which have been carefully assembled by our technicians to a very high standard.
Please note that these pens bear the original Conway Stewart hallmarks on the cap and you will find the Conway Stewart insignia clearly visible on the clip. The original Conway Stewart certificates are not available (they were probably never issued as the pens were still in component form!) so we will provide our own Certificate of Provenance confirming its origin as a genuine Conway Stewart pen.
